Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a type of anxiety disorder with very distinct signs and symptoms. A person suffering with OCD symptoms has persistent thoughts and fears associated with repetitive behaviors, which typically result in a short-lived relief of anxiety. Symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder often center on themes, such as a fear of getting contaminated by germs, or an over focus on order. OCD can become all consuming and even physically disabling. People who suffer from OCD have a poor quality of life. Both physiological and environmental factors can cause OCD. In addition to this an insufficient level of serotonin may contribute to the development of OCD.
The most common medication used in the treatment of OCD is serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SRIs) which include drugs like Prozac, Zoloft etc. While they are helpful in dealing with the anxiety issues that comes with OCD, the drugs also have their OCD side effects.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a serious medical condition that requires coordinated treatment by an experienced psychiatrist.

The Medical industry are now pushing for therapy as a form of treatment to anxiety and depression. Although this is not a new revelation, individuals have been receiving a false quick fix from antidepressants and are not exploring the emotional and mental issues regarding anxiety and depression.

The Dark Side of Prozac- Questions With No Answers

Prozac, a well known anti-depressive drug in the US, has been acclaimed, recommended and appreciated by millions of people for its fast results. However, when something works wonders for the body, nobody bothers to see beyond its benefits.

Society has come up with several questions for Prozac, and until now, the makers of the medicine haven't managed to answer, why so many suicides because of the use of the drug? One of the darkest sides of Prozac talks about the reversed process that might worsen the depression, and make individuals commit suicide.

Why do people use it for other conditions like obesity, anxiety and pain, if it was approved only for depression and obsessive compulsive disorder? Why choose Prozac that has a specific meaning, and not use proper medicine for obesity, anxiety and pain? All these questions still have no answers in the world of medicine. Sometimes people need stronger drugs to deal with their issues and they found Prozac to be the right candidate regardless of the side effects.
